Tommy woke up on a one fine sunny afternoon. Looking at the good warm sunshine shining down into his house, Tommy thought its a good time to go swimming! actually to suntan, Tommy is quite a bum.
So without any wash ups(like what's the point you know? just wash up at the swimming pool lah), Tommy hurried off to the nearest swimming pool in order not to miss a minute of the good warm sun.
To his total disappointment after he changed into his swimming gears, the dark clouds starts to form all over the sky. Tommy thought that this is no good! He was here to suntan! He cannot leave without getting a good soak of the sun!
So he began to pray.. in the pool... "Dear God, i pray that as you have commanded the winds and storm to clear up in the bible, i command the rainy dark clouds to clear in the name of Jesus. i pray that there will be sunshine upon this swimming pool so that i can get my good suntan and not waste this trip. In your name i thank you for it and i praise you for it, amen.
The sky still looks the same as a minute ago.
Then God told Tommy to go swim a few laps first and he'll get things done at his side.
So Tommy went to swim a few laps for sometime and after that drizzles starts pouring in. And people are just leaving the pool or complaining about the bad bad weather.
Tommy thought "HEY! i thought i prayed in the name of Jesus and the rainy clouds are just gonna go away and i can enjoy the good sunshine? what is this happening?!" but hey! James 1:6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ok, so he continued to have faith and believe in his prayers. and swam a couple more laps
As he finishes off the lap, the sky began to clear and you can see pockets of sky within the dark clouds going bigger and bigger.
So believing that God have answered his prayers, Tommy brought all his stuffs and walked confidently to the beach chairs.
"Thank you Jesus. By the way, do you like suntanning too?" he asked
Many of times we are so discouraged by those yet-to-be-answered prayers and doubt God, we thought that maybe God didn't hear our prayer. We thought "eh? i pray already leh, how come nothing happen?" like the incident there when tommy prayed and the sky still looks the same as before.
And after each time of such experience, we lost our zeal bit by bit, we stopped praying and our faith become near dead.
To make things worse to your dwindling faith, 'drizzles' may starts pouring in after you pray against it.
At this time when everything just doesn't seems right. when everyone around you are just not hoping for a miracle, what would you do? will you leave the pool together with them and abandon your purpose of suntanning?
Or would you go back to the bible and bank on his promises, staying firm to what He says and continue to wait upon the Lord till He comes?
Have child-like faith and just continue to believe in God for his miracle peeps. (:
